Why I built this site, was it worth it, and some thoughts on AI
This is probably my third or fourth personal site. Every time I had the same plan: fill it up, start a blog, write about the bugs I hit and how I fixed them. The plan was always there. The posts never were.
This time I will. I don\
I think so. I genuinely enjoy explaining something or walking through an experience, but that doesn\
Over the last few years AI got pushed so hard into everyday life that people now ask it things they used to decide on their own. What to wear, how to word an email, whether to take a job. All of it goes to a chatbot now. Whether blaming AI for that is fair is debatable. Humans have always leaned toward the easy path, minimum effort, shortcuts. AI just made it frictionless.
Something else bugs me: every sentence from an AI company CEO gets treated like a prophecy. "By 2030 X will happen" and people act like it\
And keep writing code. Stay curious about how systems actually work, how pieces connect, what breaks when you change one thing. AI can spit out an answer. Asking "why does it work like that" is still on you.
Whenever this topic comes up, I think of a scene from I, Robot. Spooner is grilling Sonny:
